Have you ever thought about how the most important people in your life came into it?
Maybe it was a chance meeting. A conversation you almost didn’t have. Someone you happened to sit next to, work with, or stand beside while waiting in line.
I believe that if we are open to it—and if we pay attention to the little signs and moments in our lives—the people who cross our paths may be there for a reason.
That stranger you start a conversation with might someday become a great friend.
Someone you meet may be going through a difficult season and need the encouragement, help, or guidance that only you can give.
Or perhaps that person will become someone who changes your life—a mentor, a supporter, a teacher, or simply someone who believes in you at exactly the moment you need it most.
But we have to be open enough to notice them.
We spend so much of our lives with our heads down. We’re looking at our phones, checking messages, scrolling through social media, or thinking about the next thing on our to-do list. We can be surrounded by people and yet completely disconnected from everyone around us.
And I sometimes wonder: What are we missing?
The next time you’re waiting in line for coffee, sitting in a waiting room, walking through a store, or simply going about your day, try something different.
Lift your head.
Look around.
Smile at someone.
Say hello.
Start a conversation.
You never know where one small interaction might lead. You may brighten someone’s day. You may be exactly the person they needed to meet.
Or maybe, just maybe, they are someone you were meant to meet.
Life has an interesting way of bringing people across our paths. Some will stay for only a moment. Others may become a chapter in our story. And every once in a while, someone unexpected may become part of the entire book.
So this week, put the phone down a little more often. Look up. Be curious. Be open.
You never know who might be standing right in front of you—and how meeting them could change both of your stories.
It might even be someone that you have known for quite some time but haven’t taken the time to talk to or really get to know.
How many people have we just passed over that might have been worth taking even a moment, to have a short conversation with? If not just to give them a moment of acknowledgment or hope?
"Not every meaningful encounter is planned. Some of life's greatest gifts arrive disguised as ordinary moments."
Happy Motivation Monday! 💛
